Raphael was the National Grand Champion Medium Wool Male for ALSA in both 2014 and 2015 and the ILR National Grand Champion Medium Wool Male in 2015. Wow. When I first saw him I knew he was my kind of llama. Huge, stretchy, great bone and body mass, long neck, flashy and out of National Champion parents. His dam is one of my all time favorite females. What genetics and presence.
Carlos Mendoza, the original breeder of Raphael , shared his thoughts when we purchased Raphael:
"Raphael is llama royalty for sure out of one of the great Nevaska/Besakih sisters Nastaza and Sambuca our part Argentine male. Representing the best of Kay Patterson blood lines on both sides, Raphael weighed over 40 pounds at birth and seemed to never stop growing. Never beaten in the show ring he proudly carries three national grand champion titles to his name in both ALSA and ILR show divisions. We cannot be happier as he transitions to another great home. Great wine will certainly not be new to this magnificent male and trust he will provide you with many great camelid cuvees for your farm :)"
